About the job:

The Production Operator is a key role that supports the production, operations and project teams. The Production Operator is responsible for operating production tools, machinery and carrying out quality control checks. You will ensure that products are assembled and produced to the highest standards, technical specifications and quality requirements. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of production machinery, and for following all safety procedures to protect the safety of yourself and your colleagues. You will report to the Production Supervisor. The main office & production facility is based in Westbury, Wiltshire, UK.

Responsibilities also include:

  • Demonstrable, practical ability in the assembly/disassembly of mechanical and electrical assemblies. Good hand fitting and finishing techniques plus a working knowledge of clean assembly techniques would be useful.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and use common hand measuring equipment such as micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, clocks and gauges preferable.
  • Assist in all aspects of product testing including: Cryogenic, Pressure and Factory Acceptance Testing.
  • Carry out refurbishment of products specific requirements.
  • Carry out delivery and collections to suppliers and contractors in company van.
  • Pack orders for dispatch.
  • Fork lift licence desirable.
  • Maintain cleanliness of workshop area in line with health and safety standards.
  • Demonstrate practical ability of manual machining techniques. Setting and operating lathes, CNC Lathe and drilling desirable.
  • Undertake any other projects or activities as and when requested to do so.
  • To understand and demonstrate the importance of being a team-player.
  • Work to agreed performance targets, e.g. for response times, turnover and growth.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Inspecting equipment and conducting routine maintenance.
  • Carry out repairs to all types of plant and equipment in a safe, timely and professional manner.
  • Troubleshooting equipment malfunctions
  • Ensuring that work carried out complies with Health & Safety legislation
  • Fit new parts and make sure equipment is working correctly

Som praktikant i den tekniske afdeling vil du blive en del af et team på 8 kompetente og engagerede kollegaer, der arbejder med udvikling af vores produktion. Teamet har blandt andet fokus på at løse opgaver inden for:

  • Effektivisering og automatisering af maskiner og udstyr
  • Forbedring af miljø, sikkerhed og bæredygtighed for Trelleborg lokalt og globalt
  • Udarbejdelse af løsninger til komplekse såvel som praktiske problemer på fabrikken
  • Indgå i tværfagligt samarbejde med andre afdelinger om at udvikle, dokumentere og implementere nye processer og nyt udstyr

Dit hovedfokus i denne praktikstilling vil være at arbejde på et konkret projekt i virksomheden. I vores produktion drejer vi bl.a. emner på 1 – 3 meter i diameter, og emner i denne størrelse skal opspændes i vores største drejebænke. Den nuværende proces giver os udfordringer på fabrikken, og der er derfor behov for at nytænke denne proces. I dette projekt vil der være rig mulighed for at tænke innovativt og skabe en kreativ løsning, som kan løse en reel udfordring i vores virksomhed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assembles parts using various tools as instructed by illustrated work instructions.
  • Loads parts onto appropriate size mandrels for packing and shipping.
  • Cleans and deburs parts as needed to ensure quality products.
  • Operates various production equipment including but not limited to lathes, CNC’s, presses, lip former, vibro machine, injection molder and pelletizer to make product components.
  • Fills and paints parts using various chemical applications including but not limited to silicone, varitite, hypolon, nitric acid and flurotech.
  • Conducts quality inspection of completed parts as well as re-worked parts.
  • Helps in the shipping department as needed; labeling and packing products
  • Conducts minor set-ups of machines.
  • Cross trains in other areas or departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience

This position requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.  This is an entry-level position that should have 0-1 year previous experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to use various hand tools such as pliers, wrenches and clippers
  • Must have basic knowledge of blueprints and work instructions
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization effectively in English both written and verbal

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Equipment Used

This position is located in a manufacturing facility which requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, squatting, twisting, bending, and reaching throughout an entire ten-hour or eight-hour shift.  Must be able to move and handle varying sized products in bags and/or boxes in a dirty, dusty and noisy environment.  Requires lifting up to 25 lbs.  Requires working with measuring and cutting tools as well as a direct current welder.

  • Ensure plant-wide compliance to quality and system standards (ISO9001, ISO13485, QSPs, SOPs, PSOPs, OPPMs, VBA and customer specifications) for all products produced. Perform unscheduled, random audits on part conformance and system conformance on a daily basis.

Education and Experience

Required:

  • 4 year degree in Business Administration, Engineering or equivalent and/or 5+ years of supervisory experience
  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing
  • Understanding of ISO9001 or 13485 standards

II. Summary of the role:

  • The Mechanical Engineer plays a critical role within our factory maintenance team, ensuring the smooth operation and reliability of Facilities machines. This role is primarily responsible for monitoring machine performance, minimizing downtime, and implementing strategies to enhance safety, efficiency, and overall productivity of all mechanical systems and equipment.

  • The Mechanical Engineer leads technician teams, driving continuous improvements in maintenance practices and ensuring that all mechanical systems operate at high performance.

III. Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all mechanical installations and maintenance activities comply with local and national safety regulations, testing commissioning machines.
  • Develop work instructions, checklist for all facilities system such as Chiller, Cooling tower, Pumps, Water Supply, Waste Water Treatment System, Firefighting, Exhaust system, HVAC, other system to meet internal standards and comply with local regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations, optimal performance and efficiency.

The CNC Setup Machinist is responsible for fabricating parts on numerically controlled machine and working from design and specifications, determines machining requirements and prepares a mathematical definition of the part to be produced.  They will edit programs as needed as well as ensuring operation of the machines.  This position will determine the proper speeds, feed and types of cutters needed to maximize machine efficiency.  Prepares input for computer to generate actual machine control program.  This position requires following standard work instructions of each required specification ensuring quality production of parts.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Edits and troubleshoots G code programs as well as makes adjustments to tooling offsets based on knowledge and experience.
  • Performs set up operations for all types of work orders per SMED process sheet.
  • Validates unproven CNC programs for first time manufacture.
  • Edits programs at the machine; includes processes and tooling to ensure finished products are in specification.
  • Reviews production orders for machining jobs and determines dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces; requires reviewing data sheets, blueprints and materials.
  • Performs complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of parts.
  • Provides technical expertise and support to CNC Operators to solve production problems and increase efficiency.
  • Collects and records Statistical Process Control (SPC) data as required by inspection methods for each order to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Operates the Optical Comparator and other measuring tools to ensure correct dimensions of machined parts.
  • Oversees machine operation throughout the production run to ensure part conformance.
  • May be required to run more than one machine simultaneously per standard work.
  • Cross trains in other areas as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience

This position requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.  Should have a minimum of 5-7 years CNC experience in a manufacturing environment operating CNC equipment.  Experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing a plus.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to setup, edit and operate CNC lathe and mill.
  • Ability to read and edit G code programs and adjust tooling offsets.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot problems and provide sustainable solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in English; both written and verbal
  • Must have a high mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate CNC machinery in a manner that uses raw materials to their best advantage and protects tools against breakage.
  • Extensive knowledge of machining tools and processes.
  • Must have ability to read and execute requirements on blueprints, drawings and work instructions
  • Must have excellent math skills to read and process work instructions
  • Knowledge of materials and material requirements; including knowledge of nonconforming material procedure
  • Should have excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to set up machines for and instruct other operators
  • Must have excellent knowledge of SPC charts based on dimensions and the ability to read them
  • Must have a high level of attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Must have ability to adapt to constantly changing priorities
  • Must have intermediate computer skills.

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Equipment Used

This position is in the CNC department of a manufacturing facility which requires prolonged standing, walking, squatting, twisting, bending, and reaching throughout an entire ten-hour or eight-hour shift.  Must be able to move and handle varying sized tools and dies in a dirty, dusty and noisy environment.  Requires lifting to 50 pounds and working with large machinery and cutting tools.

Job Description

Responsible for the manufacture of special molds and tooling primarily used for: 1) extruding rubber and / or plastic parts as well as 2) splicing and / or molding of rubber

Major Responsibilities:

  • Construct new tooling per instructions
  • Repair existing tooling per instructions or as needed
  • Operation of all machine shop equipment including milling machines, lathes, cut-off saws and EDM machine safety and according to written work specifications
  • Manufacture valve stems using the lathe
  • Repairing and maintaining machines as required
  • Soldering of valve stems made of various metals as required
  • Work with other team members and management to accomplish corporate quality goals of: on time delivery, turnaround time, profitability and returns
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Read, write and comprehend English well

  • Capability to read and understand drawings, specifications and other engineering and administrative documents.
