About the Job

The Operations Manager for our Lyon site is pivotal in steering plant operations to ensure Safety, Productivity, and alignment with our broader objectives. Education and Experience

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in industrial engineering, manufacturing management, operations management, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: 10-15 years of experience in manufacturing and operations management, including prior leadership roles in the industry.

We are hiring a Second Shift Supervisor to join our growing team! This position will work a minimum 50-hour work week, Monday-Friday with Saturdays on occasion, scheduled shift of 2:00pm-12:00am. This position will be required to train in all departments on First shift, Monday-Friday 6:00am-4:00pm, for the first 3 to 6 months before moving to Second shift.

Job Description:

  • Manages all production activities on given shift
  • Maintains responsibility and direct supervision of staff across all active departments during shift, from 15 to 30+ production employees
  • Supervise a diverse population of hourly personnel
  • Monitor workflow and manage labor resources to meet changing production needs
  • Work closely with Production Manager, Operations Manager, EHS Team, and other shift leads, supervisors and management to ensure timely completion of daily production metrics
  • Actively support and seek out opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, and productivity
  • Assist in identifying and coordinating training for employees
  • Provide performance appraisals and issues disciplinary actions for employees including providing direct feedback to employees to ensure safety, productivity and quality standards are achieved
  • Supports plant safety initiatives through addressing unsafe work habits, conducting accident investigations, and performing regular safety audits in tandem with EHS team
  • Actively pursues process improvement to reduce cost and/or improve production quality using problems solving or other continuous improvement methods
  • Assist in evaluating employee training and education needs
  • Expected to understand various daily production schedule and communicate changes to schedule
  • Effectively communicate changes, issues, status, etc. in a shift review to outgoing and incoming management or supervisor staff
  • Monitors employee attendance and vacation calendar
  • Responsible to ensure shift and production continue to run when absent, based on vacation and personal needs, and coordinates and plans with other shifts supervisors for coverage.
  • Responsible for occasionally lifting of 50+ lbs.
  • Occasional push/pull of roll carriers to assist operators
  • Expected to stand, sit, and walk during shift

Position Reporting Structure:

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • Review and understand the specification for the products from finished goods to components & raw material level with support from group product design team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Edits and troubleshoots G code programs as well as makes adjustments to tooling offsets based on knowledge and experience.
  • Performs set up operations for all types of work orders per SMED process sheet.
  • Validates unproven CNC programs for first time manufacture.
  • Edits programs at the machine; includes processes and tooling to ensure finished products are in specification.
  • Reviews production orders for machining jobs and determines dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces; requires reviewing data sheets, blueprints and materials.
  • Performs complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of parts.
  • Provides technical expertise and support to CNC Operators to solve production problems and increase efficiency.
  • Collects and records Statistical Process Control (SPC) data as required by inspection methods for each order to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Operates the Optical Comparator and other measuring tools to ensure correct dimensions of machined parts.
  • Oversees machine operation throughout the production run to ensure part conformance.
  • May be required to run more than one machine simultaneously per standard work.
  • Cross trains in other areas as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience

This position requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.  Should have a minimum of 5-7 years CNC experience in a manufacturing environment operating CNC equipment.  Experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing a plus.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to setup, edit and operate CNC lathe and mill.
  • Ability to read and edit G code programs and adjust tooling offsets.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot problems and provide sustainable solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in English; both written and verbal
  • Must have a high mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate CNC machinery in a manner that uses raw materials to their best advantage and protects tools against breakage.

  • As a Process Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing manufacturing processes, procedures, and documentation related to electrical and testing aspects for our Docking & Mooring product area. You will ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality and contribute to the flawless operation of our company. III. Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Review and understand product specifications from finished goods to components and raw material levels, collaborating with the group product design team.
  • Work closely with the engineering team to improve product specifications, providing error feedback and correction.
  • Prepare process drawings (e.g., product drawing, process flow) and necessary documents (e.g., work instructions, operation procedures).
  • Create and maintain product master data in the ERP system, including Bill of Materials (BoM) and routings.
  • Plan manufacturing capacity, process cycle time, and standard work to optimize production efficiency.
  • Provide technical assistance and supervision to production staff, resolving technical issues in daily operations.
  • Support quality issue analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist QA/QC with process expertise during MDR reviews.
  • Maintain and manage specifications in accordance with ISO9001 standards.
  • Support supply chain development through technical reviews and alternative solutions.
  • Contribute to new product and production introductions.
  • Supervise and train personnel as required.
  • Establish and maintain effective technical communication between Trelleborg Manufacturing and Trelleborg Industrial Solutions.
  • Maintain calibration and records for testing equipment.
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by the direct manager.

 

About the Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics, automation, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in electrical/electronics industry for product/process engineering.
  • Experience in Manufacturing Excellence/Lean practices is preferred.
  • Strong engineering abilities in electrical or electronics products and processes.
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as AutoCAD, E-plan, and the ability to read and understand electrical drawings.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., C++, VB, PLC) is a plus.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data for process performance follow-up and improvement.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to handle exceptions effectively.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
