Trelleborg in Monson, MA is currently looking for a motivated, team-oriented individual to join our team! We are hiring a Second Shift Supervisor to join our growing team! This position will work a minimum 50-hour work week, Monday-Friday with Saturdays on occasion, scheduled shift of 2:00pm-12:00am. This position will be required to train in all departments on First shift, Monday-Friday 6:00am-4:00pm, for the first 3 to 6 months before moving to Second shift.

Job Description:

  • Manages all production activities on given shift
  • Maintains responsibility and direct supervision of staff across all active departments during shift, from 15 to 30+ production employees
  • Supervise a diverse population of hourly personnel
  • Monitor workflow and manage labor resources to meet changing production needs
  • Work closely with Production Manager, Operations Manager, EHS Team, and other shift leads, supervisors and management to ensure timely completion of daily production metrics
  • Actively support and seek out opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, and productivity
  • Assist in identifying and coordinating training for employees
  • Provide performance appraisals and issues disciplinary actions for employees including providing direct feedback to employees to ensure safety, productivity and quality standards are achieved
  • Supports plant safety initiatives through addressing unsafe work habits, conducting accident investigations, and performing regular safety audits in tandem with EHS team
  • Actively pursues process improvement to reduce cost and/or improve production quality using problems solving or other continuous improvement methods
  • Assist in evaluating employee training and education needs
  • Expected to understand various daily production schedule and communicate changes to schedule
  • Effectively communicate changes, issues, status, etc. in a shift review to outgoing and incoming management or supervisor staff
  • Monitors employee attendance and vacation calendar
  • Responsible to ensure shift and production continue to run when absent, based on vacation and personal needs, and coordinates and plans with other shifts supervisors for coverage.
  • Responsible for occasionally lifting of 50+ lbs.
  • Occasional push/pull of roll carriers to assist operators
  • Expected to stand, sit, and walk during shift

Position Reporting Structure:

  • Reports directly to Production Manager
  • Works with Maintenance Supervisor, Operations Manager, QEHS Manager, Production Manager, Shift Supervisors, Supply Chain Manager, Human Resources, Shift Leads
  • Directly supervises second shift production personnel across all active departments at time of shift

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct supervisor experience of a staff of 10 or more
  • Experience with developing and enhancing production planning/control systems
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement/Lean manufacturing techniques
  • Ability to help the organization meet all goals such as safety, quality, cost improvement and on-time delivery
  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy
  • Ability to motivate, develop and cross-train personnel
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach

Preferred Education and Qualifications:

  • Degree in a technical, engineering or a relevant field
  • Experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools
  • Previous experience as Production Supervisor in a manufacturing setting or similar role
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with ISO quality systems or similar
  • Strong analytical and diplomatic problem-solving skills
  • Experience with MS Office including Outlook, Teams, Excel

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
