About the Job

Trelleborg is seeking a highly motivated Technical Sales Manager to accelerate global growth for its hollow glass microspheres portfolio, including high-performance engineered microsphere solutions used in aerospace, defense, biomedical, and general industrial applications. This role is ideal for a proven sales “Hunter” who can identify new customers, open new markets, and convert complex technical opportunities into profitable, long-term business.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical curiosity, disciplined opportunity management, and consultative selling skills to help customers solve lightweighting, strength, dielectric, thermal, acoustic, and formulation challenges using Trelleborg hollow glass microspheres.

Compensation: Salary range starting at $90,000 annual plus variable bonus plan

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a global new business development strategy focused on aerospace, defense, biomedical, and general industrial markets.
• Actively prospect, qualify, and close new customers, with a strong emphasis on hunting new opportunities rather than relying on existing accounts.
• Build and manage a robust pipeline of technical sales opportunities from initial contact through qualification, sampling, technical evaluation, specification, negotiation, and commercial close.
• Identify target accounts, decision makers, and influencers across OEMs, formulators, compounders, defense contractors, biomedical manufacturers, and industrial materials companies.
• Translate customer performance requirements into value-based solutions using Trelleborg hollow glass microspheres and related technical capabilities.
• Partner with technical, engineering, operations, and quality teams to support product selection, trials, customer testing, scale-up, and commercialization.
• Gather and communicate market intelligence, competitive activity, customer feedback, pricing trends, and emerging application opportunities.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations, customer proposals, value propositions, and business cases to internal and external stakeholders.
• Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, confidentiality agreements, supply expectations, and long-term business arrangements in alignment with company objectives.
• Represent Trelleborg at customer visits, industry conferences, trade shows, and technical forums globally.
• Maintain accurate CRM records, opportunity forecasts, call reports, and account development plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials science, chemistry, business, or a related technical/commercial discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 1-3 years of proven technical sales experience preferred.
• Proven track record of winning new customers in a technical sales, business development, or key account development role.
• Demonstrated “Hunter” mindset with the ability to independently identify, pursue, and close new business globally.
• Experience selling engineered materials, specialty additives, fillers, composites, polymers, ceramics, coatings, syntactic materials, or related technical products.
• Strong understanding of consultative and value-based selling in complex B2B environments.
• Ability to communicate technical product benefits to engineering, procurement, quality, R&D, and executive-level stakeholders.
• Experience managing long sales cycles involving customer qualification, testing, product approval, and specification development.
• Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, forecasting discipline, and CRM proficiency.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% of the time, including international travel.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

Successful candidate will have strengths in the following:

• Established relationships within aerospace, defense, biomedical, advanced materials, composites, coatings, or industrial manufacturing markets.
• Experience selling to global OEMs, prime contractors, tier suppliers, formulators, or specification-driven technical customers.
• Knowledge of hollow glass microspheres, lightweight fillers, dielectric materials, thermal insulation materials, acoustic materials, or syntactic foam systems.
• Experience developing new applications from concept through qualification and production adoption.
• Familiarity with regulated or mission-critical markets where quality, documentation, and technical validation are essential.

They are energized by opening doors, building trust with new customers, and pursuing opportunities that require persistence, technical problem solving, and disciplined follow-through. This individual should be comfortable operating globally, navigating complex customer organizations, and creating demand for differentiated engineered materials in both established and emerging applications.

• Conversion of technical evaluations into commercial opportunities.
• Expansion of Trelleborg hollow glass microspheres into new applications and geographies.
• Accurate forecasting, CRM discipline, and timely reporting of market intelligence.
• Development of strong internal partnerships with technical, operations, quality, and commercial teams.

Travel Requirements

• 50% domestic and international travel expected
• A valid passport is required

Work Environment:

• While at the production facility, the employee is frequently exposed to excessive heat, fumes, industrial dust and airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations
• The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
• Trelleborg is a non-smoking property. The use of tobacco is not allowed onsite including outside of the facility.
