We're looking for a Laboratory Assistant, where you'll be responsible for physical and rheological
testing of milled material and inputting data into a computer and checking results against
specifications or control limits.
Key Responsibilities:
a) Checking of samples brought in for visual defects, separation, and proper identification.
b) Moulding and conditioning of test samples as per Lab. Sample preparation & sampling plan (DM439/57).
c) Rheology testing.
d) Physical testing as per ‘Laboratory sample preparation & sampling plan’ (DM439/57).
e) Fluid ageing or other particular tests or testing where applicable as per Laboratory sample
preparation & sampling plan (DM439/57).
f) Comparison of results with – -
Compound specification. - -
‘Release limits’ (where applicable).
Previous results.
g) Releasing material and issue of release tickets.
h) Raising rectification form (DM439/5) for materials that fails to meet the specified parameters.
i) Generating certificates for internal &/or external customers as the need arises.
j) Data entry of all results into the computer including maintenance of system such as back-ups.
k) Filing all Rheometer traces, rectification forms and computer printouts of the results booked.
l) Filing & retrieval of all other laboratory data generated.
m) Responsible for cleanliness of working area and cleanliness of instruments (5S).
n) Continuous attention to ensure that procedures are being strictly followed. Any deviations to be brought to the attention of immediate senior.
o) Should wear lab overalls and other safety attire provided by the company and as per company safety policy and as per good laboratory practice.
p) Compliance with the requirements of the ISO14001 environment management system and the ISO45001 occupational health and safety management system.
q) Responsible for reporting any hazards / near misses / incidents immediately to the area management.
What we are looking for:
• Secondary school education.
• Computer literate.
• Have undergone onsite training.
• Capable of following testing instructions.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
