This job description details the responsibilities of the TSS Long Thanh EHS Specialist, reporting directly to the Quality Manager. The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Managing and maintaining the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
  • Setting-up and overseeing the implementation of ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems), ISO 45000 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems) standards and Corporate’s safety management system and policy.
  • Ensuring the company's adherence to relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations while promoting continuous improvements in EHS practices.

About the Job

  EHS Compliance & Standards:

  • Ensure the organization complies with local, national, and international EHS regulations and standards, including ISO 14001, ISO 45000 and Corporate’s safety management system and policy.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain procedures to ensure compliance with EHS laws and guidelines.
  • Manage the internal and external EHS audit process, ensuring all records, reports, and actions comply with regulatory, certification standards and corporate requirements.

  Environmental Management:

  • Monitor and report on the organization’s environmental performance, including waste management, emissions, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Oversee environmental impact assessments and implement corrective actions to reduce negative environmental impacts.
  • Lead efforts in waste reduction, resource conservation, and sustainability practices within the facility.

  Health and Safety Management:

  • Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure a safe workplace for all employees, visitors, and contractors.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and site inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, ensuring thorough root cause analysis, reporting, and corrective measures are taken.

  EHS Training & Awareness:

  • Lead EHS training programs for all employees to raise awareness of safe work practices, environmental responsibilities, and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure ongoing training and awareness initiatives are in place for contractors and visitors as well.

  Emergency Preparedness & Response:

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans, including fire drills, chemical spill response, and first aid protocols.
  • Conduct periodic emergency drills to ensure all employees are well-prepared for emergencies.

  Continuous Improvement & Reporting:

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives in EHS performance by identifying key areas for improvement, setting goals, and implementing action plans.
  • Prepare regular EHS performance reports for management and ensure timely submission of required regulatory reports.

  Supplier & Contractor EHS Management:

  • Work with suppliers and contractors to ensure that EHS standards are met throughout the supply chain and in contractual agreements.

Ensure that third-party contractors comply with the company's EHS policies while on-site.

About the Ideal Candidate

  Education:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certifications in ISO 14001 and ISO 45000 are highly preferred.

  Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in EHS management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in implementing ISO 14001 and ISO 45000 standards.


Competencies

Define specific competencies needed. (Examples: negotiation skills, programming skills, coaching, budgeting, problem solving etc). Look at the Leadership profile.


  • In-depth understanding of environmental laws, regulations, and standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45000, OSHA, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety best practices, risk assessments, and hazard identification.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex EHS concepts to various stakeholders, including management, employees, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to analyze complex EHS issues and develop effective solutions to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
  • Ability to create and deliver effective EHS training programs for employees and contractors at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven leadership skills, including the ability to influence and engage employees, management, and external partners in EHS initiatives.
  • Able to work collaboratively across various departments to drive EHS initiatives and compliance.

Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
