We're looking for Senior Laboratory Assistant, where you'll be responsible for testing of raw material, compounds and moulded parts with lab testing equipment available, checking and calibration of instruments used as per internal established procedure and checking of test results against specification or control limits and filing them appropriately.

Key Responsibilities:

Physical and chemical testing as available in the lab
Raw material testing as required with lab testing equipment, checking against specified values, documentation thereof
Release of raw materials and documentation
Compound testing as required with lab testing equipment, checking against specified values for production material as planned.
Shelf life testing as procedure
Release of material and issue of release tickets including third party compounds
Raising rectification form (DM439/5) for materials that fail to meet the specified parameters.
Compound testing as required with lab testing equipment as asked for by chemist for development material
Preparation of samples for compound testing on lab equipment
Testing of moulded rubber with lab testing equipment as planned or asked for
Moulding and conditioning of test samples as planned or asked for
(Fluid) ageing or other particular tests or testing where applicable as per control plan for testing
Checking of samples brought in for visual defects, separation and proper identification
Documentation (filing) of all data either into computer or on paper including maintenance of system such as backups; if required Statistical Process Control (S.P.C)
Laboratory internal calibration of lab equipment if necessary
Responsible for 5S in lab and auditing
Continuous attention to ensure that procedures are being strictly followed. Any deviations to be brought to the attention of immediate senior.
Should wear lab overalls and other safety attire provided by the company and as per company safety policy and as per good laboratory practice.
Discard chemicals according to company policies.
Compliance with the requirements of the ISO14001 environment management system and the ISO45001 occupational health and safety management system.
Responsible for reporting any hazards / near misses / incidents immediately to the area management.

What we are looking for:

Secondary school education
Computer literate
Have undergone onsite training.
Capable of following testing instructions
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
