About the Job
The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager is responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s health and safety policy and management systems. The primary mission is to foster a culture of safety, ensure a healthy and secure environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors, and provide expert, accurate advisory services on all health, safety, and environmental issues. This role drives regulatory compliance and continuous improvement in all safety metrics. Provides clear strategic direction, lead cultural improvement initiatives, ensuring all HSE standards are consistently met.

Working Core Days which consist of a flexi start time of 07:45 - 08:15, finishing at 16:30 - 17:15 (dependent on start time) Monday to Thursday. Then, Friday 8am - 12:30 half day.
Responsibilities will include
Leadership and Management Support
• Collaborate with senior management and supervisors to demonstrate visible leadership and commitment to the HSE management system.
• Take full accountability for effective implementation, operation, and control of all HSE processes company-wide.
• Engage, direct, and support staff at all levels to contribute effectively to the overall effectiveness of the management system.
Policy, Procedures, and Compliance
• Develop, produce, and update guidance notes, policies, practices, and procedures in line with current legislation, industry best practice, and operational needs.
• Advise managers and employees on all aspects of health, safety, and environment, including relevant legislation, directives, codes of practice, and policy matters.
• Conduct comprehensive audits to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory bodies (HSE).
Risk Management and Incident Control
• Perform detailed risk assessments and other specific assessments (e.g., Control of Substances Hazardous to Health - COSHH), advising on necessary action for risk reduction.
• Urgently progress risk reduction countermeasures, implement both immediate containment and sustainable long-term solutions, escalating issues appropriately if project timelines are jeopardized.
• Manage the end-to-end accident investigation procedure and incident control process, including claims management and analysis of root causes.
Training and Administration
• Design, develop, evaluate, and deliver appropriate in-house health and safety awareness training courses for various departments.
• Maintain meticulous manual and computerized health, safety, and environment records, including accident statistics, policies, meeting minutes, and audit trails.
• Proven experience working in a dedicated HSE role within a relevant industry [1].
• Deep understanding of national/international health, safety, and environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in root cause analysis and data reporting.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and training delivery skills.
• Proficiency in maintaining digital records and management systems.
• Ability to respond calmly and decisively in emergency situation.
Education and Experience
• NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma or NVQ level 4 in Occupational Health & Safety Practice.
• Environmental Qualification Proven experience working in a dedicated HSE role within a relevant industry [1].
• Deep understanding of national/international health, safety, and environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in root cause analysis and data reporting.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and training delivery skills.
• Proficiency in maintaining digital records and management systems.
• Ability to respond calmly and decisively in emergency situations.
