What you will do...

You will report to the General Manager of TSS Bridgwater, and as a key member of the Leadership Team, you will manage all aspects of Finance and Accounting operations for the company. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.

As a core member of the Leadership Team, the Financial Controller is a strategic business partner to the General Manager, contributing to operational decision‑making, long-term planning, and people processes.

What we are looking for...

An experienced Financial Controller looking to make a real impact in a growing manufacturing environment.  We are looking for a proactive, technically strong and commercially minded Financial Controller to join our Leadership Team in Bridgwater.

In this key role, you will lead all Finance and Accounting operations, ensure accurate and timely reporting, strengthen internal controls, support strategic decision‑making, and act as a trusted business partner to the General Manager. This is an exceptional opportunity for someone who enjoys both hands-on finance management and high-level strategic involvement.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/P and GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of financial targets and forecasts, report variances real-time.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements and group reports.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
  • Run month-end and year-end close process.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Manage and comply with Government, and HMRC filing and reporting requirements.
  • Key member of the Leadership Team and member of the core Leadership Team focused on critical and confidential matters such as people processes and strategic direction, key business partner for the General Manager.
  • Manage and retain the best people; ensure effective performance management and succession planning.
  • Direct the preparation of annual beyond budgeting process, monitor and report on variances and update forecasts.
  • Ensure internal controls over all accounting and finance matters; develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen controls.
  • Hold and manipulate data and documentation relating to Leadership Team work on matters such as strategic direction, 5 years business plans and other critical aspects of managing the business.
  • Additional responsibilities as a member of the Leadership dependent on the person and time in role.
  • Point of contact for escalated matters for delivery and ensuring adherence to company process and legal and tax requirements.
  • Support SAP integration and process alignment with group standards.

Education and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience as a Controller.
  • 3+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • BSc or BA degree in Accounting or Finance. 
  • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) qualified or similar qualification (ACA/ACCA).
  • Experience with creating financial statements.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
  • A track record in understanding, influencing and supporting Operations.

Travel Arrangements

This role is primarily based at the Bridgwater site; however, there may be occasional requirements to travel to other company sites within Europe and internationally.

Flexible working available too.
