About the Job

As a Sales Manager for the Defense & Outdoor (wearables) segment of Trelleborg Industrial Solutions, this position will directly contribute to the expansion of our market presence and the procurement of new business. This role is accountable for generating sustainable and profitable territory revenue by leveraging Trelleborg’s sales excellence tools, resources and manufacturing capabilities.  The Sales Manager is expected to build relationships across all levels of existing and target customer organizations and to meet or exceed the customer’s needs.  The position will be provided with learning opportunities; however, a proactive approach to researching and grasping the complexities of our product lines and capabilities is essential. This role will report to the Business Development Manager for Government & Defense.

Responsibilities  

  • Assist in developing and implementing new business strategies, guiding sales from start to finish.
  • Establish high-wide-deep relationships at targeted customers to gain greater understanding of stated and unstated needs, business strategies, etc
  • Develop and execute formal account plans to meet short and long-term revenue and profit targets.
  • Establish and manage a robust project opportunity pipeline by identifying, validating, and advancing new opportunities to position Trelleborg’s Defense and Outdoor area.
  • Foster and develop relationships with key accounts, aligning with their needs and evolving market conditions.
  • Work with Product Development to steer innovation toward our strategic targets.
  • Maintain and report accurate records and project opportunity statuses in CRM tool and monthly reports.
  • Collaborate with marketing to further customer leads and streamline the sales process.
  • Explore government contract resources for insights into market trends and potential opportunities.
  • Become a subject matter expert for Defense and Outdoor with the goal of being a consultative sales professional for our customers.
  • Deep knowledge and skill in overall sales process, preparing for customer calls, anticipating customer needs, and working through customer issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3+ of experience in sales and account management.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems is a plus but not required.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to engage in self-driven learning and development.
  • Knowledge of technical textiles or coated fabrics is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with the military segment is preferred but not required.

Successful candidate will have strengths in the following:

  • Self-starter with a strong dedication to self-directed learning, particularly important for those unfamiliar with engineered coated fabrics.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability and success in working within a team. 
  • Strong presentation skills. 
  • Entrepreneurial spirited. 

Travel Requirements

  • Frequent travel to exhibitions, customer and prospect meetings, and visits to our facilities in Rutherfordton, NC, and Monson, MA. 
  • Travel requirements (including overnight travel) will be approximately 50% of work time, but remote when not traveling.
  • The idea candidate would be located in the mid-west or east coast.
  • Must be able to drive.
