About the Job

The Operations Manager for our Lyon site is pivotal in steering plant operations to ensure Safety, Productivity, and alignment with our broader objectives. This role is crucial for creating a customer-centric operation while supervising manufacturing activities, focusing on cost optimization, resource allocation, and achieving world-class standards in volume and quality. The Operations Manager will define and measure performance indicators and chip in to the organization's long-term planning, ensuring that site development aligns with business goals. ll compliance with relevant regulations is a must, and fostering high levels of employee engagement is a key priority. The ideal candidate will bring experience leading sophisticated manufacturing or service workshops.

About the Ideal Candidate

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Compliance and Safety: Safeguard a compliant and safe working environment, fostering health and safety practices and ensuring rigorous adherence to rules and standard operations.
  • Operational Oversight: Advise the daily operations of the site, driving efficiency and streamlining lead times and planning processes. Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements, and nurture a culture of Manufacturing Perfection through the systematic application of Continuous Improvement tools.
  • Financial Management: Supervise financial performance, implementing cost-saving measures while upholding high operational quality standards. Proactively address financial targets to maintain budgetary field.
  • Strategy: Collaborate with the PA team to craft and implement operations strategies that support the company’s broader goals.
  • Team Leadership: Provide multifaceted leadership to Quality, Production, and Logistics managers, focusing on Safety, Cost Management, and Efficiency. Cultivate and develop your team in line with the Business Unit’s Talent Management strategy.
  • Quality Assurance: Guarantee that quality standards and customer expectations are consistently met. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and maintain robust quality control processes.
  • Supply Chain Management: Improve inventory management and logistics to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Reporting and Communication: Deliver regular updates and reports to the PA / Operations Directors and Executive Team. Clearly communicate organizational objectives and progress to employees across all levels.
  • Employee Engagement: Cultivate a positive work environment, ensuring strong staff engagement and taking proactive steps to further improve employee happiness.

Education and Experience

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in industrial engineering, manufacturing management, operations management, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: 10-15 years of experience in manufacturing and operations management, including prior leadership roles in the industry.

  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, challenge, and coach teams optimally.
  • Operational Expertise: Proficiency in Safety, Manufacturing Perfection, and Cost Saving Management.
  • Financial skills: Strong understanding of financial management and resource allocation.
  • Quality Management: Expertise in maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Problem-Solving: Adept at identifying and resolving issues swiftly and efficiently.
  • Project Management: Skilled in handling projects from inception to completion.
  • Communication: Effective communicator, capable of conveying clear messages to the entire site and liaising with the PA Director and Executive Team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Commitment to fostering a culture of ongoing enhancement and innovation.
  • Change Management: guide teams through change optimally.
  • Conflict Resolution: Proficient in resolving conflicts and negotiating solutions.

This role requires interaction with a diverse group of partners, including:

  • PA Leadership
  • Sales Teams
  • Team: HR, Finance, QHSE, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Material Development
  • Local Authorities (e.g., Environmental agencies)
  • BU/BA Leadership
  • Auditors (both internal and external

Geography and Travel Requirements

The position is based in Lyon Dardilly, France, with minimal travel required. Travel is primarily for PA / BU meetings, estimated to be a few days per year.
