About the Job

We are seeking a Product Line Engineer to be the critical link between design and execution. You will generate and manage work packages for key product lines, ensuring they meet pioneering standards. You will be responsible for Manufacturing to Order (MTO) product lines, keeping technical specifications current for our Contract Manufacturers. Your role includes supervising Contract Manufacturers capabilities, providing feedback on Engineering to Order (ETO) projects, and supporting our Field Service team with custom tool designs. Tasks & Responsibilities

Production Engineering

  • Design and generate shop drawings for field service equipment, including molds and custom tools.
  • Review of production tooling designed by Contract Manufacturers.
  • Review and provide feedback on proposed production methodologies and processes by Contract Manufacturers.
  • Review of Contract Manufacturers Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and internal procedures.
  • Review and approve Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) generated by the Design Engineering team.
  • Offer proactive recommendations to improve product quality and cost-efficiency.
  • Provide insights and verification on Contract Manufacturers routes, bills of materials, and production texts as requested.
  • Analyze and review Contract Manufacturers cost breakdowns upon request.
  • Keep an overview of Contract Manufacturers and frequently involved third-party supplier production equipment and technical competencies.

Product Line Management

  • Generate and manage production work packages for Product Area Infrastructure product lines.
  • Maintain an overview of Product Area Infrastructure molds, tools, and their locations globally.
  • Update MTO technical documentation to the latest standards.
  • Lead all aspects of the MTO product portfolio.

Supply Chain

  • Generate Scope of Work (RfQ) documents for Contract Manufacturers and / or third-party suppliers.
  • Issue RfQs for field service equipment such as molds and custom tools to third-party suppliers, and for new MTOs to Contract Manufacturers.
  • Handle the procurement of standard field service consumables within the framework agreements, excluding Purchase Order (PO) generation.

Technical Assistance

  • Assist Contract Manufacturers by extracting historical production information from the ERP system.
  • Translate historical production information or MTO technical documentation from Dutch to English when relevant and requested by Contract Manufacturers.
  • Support Contract Manufacturers and / or Design Engineers in identifying root causes of production-related issues and review raised Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) alongside the Quality Controller.

About the Ideal Candidate

  • A Bachelor's degree (HBO or University level) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Solid understanding and competence in Microsoft Office, ERP software (specifically AX2012), and drawing programs such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Engineer, preferably within a production organization, such as a Project Engineer or Production Engineer.
  • Deep technical understanding of production processes and materials, with a strong affinity for design and planning.
  • Experience with, and a strong willingness to develop expertise in, Trelleborg’s main product lines:
  • Eager to improve the quality and performance of products within key areas such as:
    • Immersed tunnels
    • Water infrastructure
    • Underground construction
    • Offshore energy
    • Elastomeric bearings
    • Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) products
  • Ability to translate complex production information into clear instructional materials, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), internal procedures, and training manuals.
  • Willing to travel occasionally, approximately 10-20% of the time, with typical trips lasting about one week.
  • Strong command of both Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
