Summary of the role
- To support the high growth rate of Trelleborg Vietnam's business, as a BU strategy, we will continue to improve our lab facility and rubber technology development in Qingdao. The laboratory engineer plays a very important role in the development of Trelleborg Vietnam. The integration of R&D, quality control of raw material, certification, witness and system construction from customers, sales, BU R&D and Trelleborg Vietnam is very important for the continuous development of TMI technology.
- Responsible for the implementation and realization of the materials part in projects involving rubber raw materials, compound, testing, specification and certification in Trelleborg Vietnam.
- Track the development trend of polymer technology for TMI and Trelleborg Vietnam. Cooperate with Sales and BU R&D, provide technical support for the development and testing of new compound and raw materials.
- In charge of Trelleborg Vietnam lab and responsible for all materials, testing and certification/witness both inside and outside the factory.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Participation in improvement and development of the TMI compound & products from the professional perspective of polymer materials.
- Evaluation & confirmation of the properties of the new raw materials;
- Participation in R&D of rubber formulas;
- Determine the relationship between raw material properties and product performance through experiments and provide suggestions.
- Propose, implement, and document improvements to existing processes for cost saving and/or efficiency improving.
- Support production and customers through testing and material improvement;
- Be responsible for material & compound quality control.
- Converting the external standards(ASTM, ISO, JIS, customer’s documents) into internal factory standards;
- Evaluate material requirements from customers and sales, and participate in technical communication;
- Perform the key testing items which is arranged by customer and BU R&D, such as TGA, FTIR, creep, stress relaxation, oil resistance, aging resistance, ozone resistance, electrical properties, dynamic flexible, etc;
- Quality control and data analysis of compound & non-metal raw materials;
- Be responsible for material certification/witness involving customers & 3rd party institute;
- Complete reports and documents related to material development and customer requirements.
- Manage the daily work of the laboratory.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree or above, in polymer material, chemistry, or chemical engineering;
- Minimum 8 years of experience in rubber/chemical process in rubber/chemical/material industry.
- Ability to identify problems and take the initiative to initiate projects and coordinate with other departments and agencies to solve problems.
- Strong hands-on ability is needed;
- Able to independently design and execute experimental programs;
- Familiar with polymer and rubber raw materials;
- Familiar with related specifications(ASTM, ISO, JIS, DIN, AS, GB/T, etc.) which used in rubber industry;
- Familiar with related testing instruments which used in rubber industry;
- Understand of ISO9001 is needed, and understand of ISO/TS 16949 is preferred;
- Understand the compound mixing process; experience of lab compound mixing (open mill or internal mixer) is preferred;
- Oral and written communication skills in English
