The Application Engineer Sealing Technology is responsible for developing complex technical solutions, focusing on new business within growth customers. As the technical contact and coordinator for complex projects, The Application Engineer ensures optimal technical support of customers’ inquiries and opportunities, as well as customer satisfaction through a high level of sealing competence and application understanding.
Scope of your role
- Collect and analyze information from customers to understand their business, their technical requirements and expectations
- Develop complex engineering solutions to exceed customer needs
- Opportunity Management & Quote Creation for Opportunity Level 1-3
- Pricing calculation for Opportunity Level 1-3
- Article data management (quality planning, non-standard item creation, etc)
- Manage technical drawings and documents, routing and storage, by utilizing adequate system
- Ensure industrialization of design solutions
- Perform advanced contract review (e.g., NDA, QAA)
- Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure the proper solutions are offered. Including European Network, Manufacturing, SCM and R&D
- Align with customers and resolve technical problems until serial delivery
- Understand and incorporate the commercial aspects of the project
- Focus on specific segment or product line, as required within each CSC
- Perform in-house product and technical trainings
- Ensure solutions’ compliance with all necessary Standards and Regulations
- Participate in customer visits and fairs
- Eventually participates in the Expert Network.
- Further tasks according to the RACI Matrix and sales processes in IMS
Your Qualifications
- Technical school degree or equivalent (Mechanical Engineering or Technical Education preferred)
- Preferably 2+ years of work experience in engineering related field
- Deep understanding of technical drawings and terminology, as well as specific knowledge of mechanical systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong people and relationship building skills
- Strong project management and negotiation skills
- Customer driven with a positive, professional, can-do attitude
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of rubber/plastic products, seals and bearings is beneficial
- Application knowledge within specified market segments is beneficial
- Familiarity with ISO quality requirements is beneficial
