Summary of the Role: 

The Buyer is responsible for planning, sourcing, and procuring raw materials, finished goods, and third-party products to support customer demand, inventory objectives, and business growth initiatives. This role monitors forecasts and inventory requirements, manages supplier performance, identifies and develops new supplier relationships, and drives cost savings through strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations. Additionally, the Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement and inventory processes for age-restricted products, ensuring compliance with company requirements and regulatory guidelines while maintaining continuity of supply.

Tasks and Resonsibilities: 

  • Monitor forecasts, inventory levels, and customer demand while collaborating with internal resources to align strategies with customer requirements and business objectives.  
  • Create, issue, and manage purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials and products.  
  • Source, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to improve supply continuity, quality, lead times, and cost competitiveness.  
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring supplier quality, pricing, delivery, and overall performance.  Mitigate shortages and supply risks while keeping internal stakeholders informed of potential issues.   
  • Lead supplier negotiations, competitive sourcing initiatives, and cost reduction programs to achieve savings and increase profit margins while driving strategic sourcing improvements and supplier consolidation.  
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for existing and new suppliers and products, mitigating supply chain risks, and continuity while driving cost saving initiatives.  
  • Analyze purchasing trends, inventory performance, and supplier metrics to support continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, permits, certifications, and company requirements. 
  • Coordinate the sourcing, inventory control, documentation, and supplier management activities associated with age-restricted materials.  
  • Support new product launches, supplier transitions, and supply chain improvement projects. 
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier data within company systems.  
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.  

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related discipline required. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, inventory planning, or supply chain management.  
  • Experience developing supplier relationships and negotiating pricing agreements.  
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems required; SAP or JD Edwards preferred.  
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.  
  • Experience managing inventory planning, demand forecasting, and supplier performance preferred.  
  • Experience with regulated, controlled, or age-restricted products is preferred.
