This position is responsible for the inspection of finished goods, incoming critical products, and in process production as applicable or as assigned via the Magee Plastics Company/Trelleborg Sealing Solutions procedures and protocols. This position is charged with the responsibility to ensure that the inspections are carried out per MPC standards and procedures, in addition to any applicable regulating bodies (i.e. FAA), Quality System Management (i.e. AS9100) standards and accepted Customer Requirements. 

This position is Monday-Friday between 7AM-330PM, with some overtime during our busier periods.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the inspection / calibration of tools and gauges are conducted as determined via Magee Manual No. 1003 Tool and Gauge.
  • When qualified per ECVR-001-REC-002, Repair Station Receiving, ensures the incoming inspection of repair parts / kits and the associated reports are completed in a timely manner and communicated as appropriate.
  • Performs final inspection of work orders using the appropriate drawings, specifications and customer requirements as dictated by Magee Plastics Company protocol.
  • Performs incoming inspection on raw materials and in process production using the appropriate drawings, specifications and requirements when assigned / dictated by scheduling needs.
  • Conducts First Article Inspections as assigned / dictated via MPC procedural protocol and completes the associated paperwork as required, in accordance with AS9102 (latest revision).
  • Reads and interprets Engineering drawings to ensure verification / compliance to said drawings.
  • Perform necessary Business System transactions to release approved parts in accordance with sales orders and to receive materials / parts into stock as required.
  • Inputs inspection results into the appropriate media (ie database, reports, forms, hard copy, etc) for quality record retention, as well as customer / FAA reports.
  • Champions the daily activities required to control the MPC Bonded Areas within the QA Department.
  • Provides training and guidance to inspectors in training.
  • Provides information or data obtained from research, as may be requested by the Quality Manager.
  • Approximately 15% of this position should be dedicated to R&D efforts to develop and design new products and processes including manufacturing methods and quality improvements.
  • Contacts vendors to communicate any missing documentation required for items delivered, such as Certificates of Analysis, Certificates of Conformance, Test Results, MSDS, etc. In addition, elevates paperwork concerns to the QA Manager as required.
  • Receives stock via the business system and ensures the supplies are delivered to their respective locations per MPC protocol and business system locations.
  • Labels the appropriate incoming products / parts with the necessary placards to communicate the appropriate part number, lot number, shelf-life requirements, etc. to adhere to regulatory standards (i.e. FAA, OSHA); MPC and Customer requirements; and Quality Management System standards (i.e. AS9100) etc.
  • Alerts supervision on issues of damaged / freight claims and coordinates with Quality Manager on returned authorization merchandise.
  • Documents via Form QA-019 Nonconforming Material Report and communicates nonconforming products, parts, paperwork, etc. upon receipt and ensures rejected items are tagged / segregated until further notice.
  • Champions activities and communications to ensure proper inspection and release of finished goods for shipment including those already in stock.
  • Provides feedback / direction to Production Personnel for quality evaluations during production and rework assessments.
  • Conducts in process inspections as required either by request or by protocol sampling to provide appropriate feedback to Production to ensure compliance of specifications according to drawings / requirements, etc.
  • Champions / provides the appropriate FAA documentation for PMA parts to meet customer requirements.
  • Maintains the appropriate documentation and training as dictated by FAA requirements to sustain DMIR status.
  • Keeps up to date with FAA regulations and MPC requirements as dictated via Magee Manual No. 1014 Partnership for Safety Plan.
  • Ensures the incoming inspection of repair parts / kits and the associated reports are completed in a timely manner and communicated as appropriate.
  • Acts as the official delegate to the Product Quality Coordinator (when absent) with regards to the review and approval process of purchase orders, drawings and quality documentation (i.e. work instructions, forms, etc.) for Magee Plastics Company.
  • Acts as the official trainer for teaching other inspectors the process of Incoming Recovery Inspections and signs off on the ECVR-001-REC-002 form.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 2 years working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ERP systems preferred

Competencies

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and flammability reports.
  • Experience with Magee production system, equipment, and procedures
  • Ability to interpret and apply FAA regulations, Quality Management System requirements, Quality Assurance standards, and Customer specific requirements in regard to the inspection processes
  • Strong mathematic and analytical skills
  • Ability to measure accurately using required measurement tools such as flexible rulers, calipers and micrometers, counter-sink gauges, etc
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Well-developed attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills and ease of working either in a team setting or individually
  • Ability to utilize Business System

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Acceptable vision with corrective lenses. (Tested annually).
  • Capable of lifting 50 pounds.
  • Color recognition (recognizes and distinguishes colors and shades). (Tested annually).
  • Ability to frequently move, stand, and walk for up to 75% of the workday.
  • Regularly unload trucks, lift, carry, and stack boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Capable of bending, twisting, reaching, and performing physical tasks as required.
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment
