Summary of the Role: 

The Research & Development (R&D) Project Management Intern will support the planning, coordination, and execution of special projects within the Material Laboratory. This role is ideal for a student who is curious, organized, and eager to gain hands-on experience in both technical environments and project management workflows. The intern will collaborate with scientists, engineers, and project managers to help drive initiatives that advance material innovation, laboratory capabilities, and operational efficiency.

Tasks and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in coordinating R&D project activities, timelines, and deliverables for ongoing and emerging Material Laboratory initiatives.
  • Support projects involving the integration and coordination of new equipment, instrumentation, and laboratory processes, ensuring smooth implementation and cross-team alignment.
  • Contribute to project documentation, including meeting notes, project plans, status reports, and technical summaries.
  • Partner with laboratory staff to gather data, track progress, and ensure alignment between technical teams and project objectives.
  • Support experimental setup, sample preparation, and basic laboratory tasks as needed to facilitate project execution.
  • Help identify risks, bottlenecks, and resource needs, escalating issues to project leads when appropriate.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and provide administrative and logistical support for project-related activities.
  • Maintain organized project files, records, and databases to ensure accurate and accessible information.
  • Assist in preparing presentations, dashboards, and updates for internal stakeholders.

Education and Experience: 

  • Associates Degree in a Scientific Field, Business or Project Management
  • OR
  • Sophomore, Junior, Senior or advanced student working towards a Scientific, Business or Project degree
  • Grade point average of 3.0 or higher
  • Lab experience preferred
  • Strong analytical, decision making, and problem solving skills required
  • Proficiency with productivity tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, and project tracking software.
