Summary

Sets up and operates extrusion equipment in Production to produce tubing/hose and profiles. Participates in engineering trials. Troubleshoots production issues. Works with engineering to be compliant to QMS as it pertains to new equipment qualifications.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Extrusion Technician 1:

  • Set-ups and tear downs of extrusion lines including essential paperwork
  • Starts extrusion lines and adjusts process to meet specifications.
  • Communicates with Manufacturing Engineer on all tool damage and wear
  • Extruder and line cleaning and inspection, including tooling.
  • Runs extrusion line if necessary.
  • Basic trouble shooting techniques to bring product back to specification.

Extrusion Technician 2:

  • Trains operators in line operation and inspection.
  • Advanced trouble shooting techniques.
  • Can identify root cause of extrusion problems and fix, ie material, equipment, process
  • Performs simple maintenance of equipment
  • Does not need supervision to run entire process and complete extrusion orders
  • Completes all paperwork with minimal to no errors.

Extrusion Technician 3:

  • Trains Extrusion Technician 1.
  • Works with NPD to run new product trials
  • Works with NPD to create process characterization and solve advanced technical extrusion problems.
  • Works with Manufacturing Engineers to determine root cause and solutions.
  • Works with Manufacturing Engineers to write up work instructions and assess process stability and cost savings.

 

Education and Experience

Required:

  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • Silicone or Plastic extrusion or related experience

Desired:

  • Level 1: 2 years Silicone or Plastic Extrusion experience
  • Level 2: 5 years Silicone or Plastic Extrusion experience
  • Level 3: 10 years Extrusion, set-up and training experience
  • Level 3: Technical college degree

The final compensation offered to the candidate may be based on geographical location, work experience and/or skill level. Additions to the compensation packing, including but not limited to paid time off, insurance benefits and 401(k) eligibility, will be outlined at the time of the job offer.

Compensation range: $25/hr - $35/hr
