Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Planner is responsible for planning and scheduling manufacturing to ensure fulfillment of customer orders, coordinating production activities in conjunction with the Value Stream Supervisors, and assists on-time delivery and arrears as established by corporate standards. The Planner or Sr. Planner is responsible for his/her quality.
1. Prepare production plans through the compilation of customer requirements, engineering designs, specifications, machine process data, print and distribute work orders, and perform scheduling of all production cells. 2. Schedule, control, and coordinate production activities based upon production line or shop capacity, priority, and due date. 3. Create and post a work order priority list (Dispatch List) for each work center. 4. Act as liaison between Sales and Marketing to communicate production status and to expedite orders to satisfy customer requirements. 5. Advise procurement or supply activities on a variety of material requirements and production schedule due dates. 6. Determine the status of work in process, time required to complete the job, the availability of materials, tools required and reassess priorities. 7. Expedite jobs in progress by any appropriate means. 8. Ensure labor, material, and work order records in the information systems are current and accurate 9. Provide support to internal and external customers. 10. Direct and coordinate personnel in conjunction with Value Stream Supervisors. 11. Analyze and effectively solve work problems or assist in solving work related problems. 12. Actively participate with management in Manufacturing Excellence and other improvement projects to continuously improve business processes. 13. Actively participate as a member of the Inventory Control team to ensure inventory accuracy. 14. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. 15. Attends daily operations meetings Required:
Preferred: Associate degree and/or APICS training. Experience with 5S, Lean Thinking/Six Sigma philosophies a plus. 1+ Years experience with ERP systems preferred. Experience with JD Edwards is a huge plus.
