The Quality Manager at TSS Bridgwater is crucial in leading the quality assurance team to ensure high-quality product delivery across various industries, including automotive, aerospace, food & beverage, and general manufacturing. This role involves overseeing product and process verification during production, defining and implementing long-term quality goals and strategies, and effectively communicating the quality policy throughout the organization. Compliance with key industry standards such as IATF 16949 and AS 9100 is mandatory, requiring the appointment of personnel responsible for meeting customer requirements and overseeing quality-related aspects. The Quality Manager is also a member of the site leadership team.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Strategic Direction & Daily Operations:

  • Shape strategic direction and oversee daily operations in quality control and assurance.
  • Ensure high-quality control of produced parts and manage MSA, SPC, and PPAP activities.
  • Deliver certification documents promptly to customers.

Quality Assurance:

  • Sustain and enhance ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and AS9100 certifications.
  • Define and achieve quality objectives with long-term strategies (1–5 years).
  • Manage customer complaints and deliver timely resolutions.
  • Continuously improve and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Lead annual management reviews of the QMS.

Leadership & Support:

  • Contribute to the strategic and operational success of TSSB as a member of the site leadership team.
  • Support production teams and other business functions in quality-related matters.
  • Oversee quality assurance activities, including handling customer complaints and non-conformities.
  • Manage audits (customer, internal, and supplier).

Compliance & Improvement:

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949, BS EN 9100, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Create and implement QA and QC game plans, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Monitor, maintain, and report on Quality KPIs.
  • Implement improvements to enhance product quality performance.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and implement solutions using tools like 8D and CAQ.

Customer Engagement:

  • Liaise with customers to ensure their expectations regarding product quality are met and exceeded.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Degree (advantageous) and relevant quality management qualification.
  • Quality management and lead auditor experience.
  • Engineering knowledge (specifications, drawings, reports).
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Systematic problem-solving proficiency.
  • Excellent communication and people management skills.
  • Budgeting and financial planning competence.
  • Understanding of local and global strategies.
  • Proven leadership and team motivation.
  • High attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Calm under pressure with conflict-resolution expertise.
  • Innovative and thorough in data analysis.

This position is based on-site at Bridgwater. Trelleborg must ensure that anyone we’re looking to employ is legally allowed to work in the UK before their employment begins.
