Manufacturing Support Engineer

Duties, responsibilities and authorities:

• Lead cost reduction initiatives and Manufacturing excellence/ 6Sigma projects;
• Improve process yields and machine uptime;
• Ensure product quality is kept to the required standard through effective engineering activities;
• Enhance shop floor organisation through 5S methodology;
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives and participate in Lean and 6Sigma activities
• Ensure that Process Instructions, Control Plans, FMEA’s and other quality documentation are updated as required;
• Identify and implement corrective and preventive actions to ensure customer requirements are met
• Stop any shipment from being sent to customer that is suspected to contain non-conforming product
• Conduct training of operatives where required;
• Process engineering related input for RFQ’s and capacity planning in a timely manner;
• Maintain and update tool inventory where required;
• Raise required documentation to order new tools;
• Optimise tool design to improve productivity and yield;
• Lead qualification and introduction of new processes and machines in manufacturing area;
• Address engineering related concerns raised through the anomaly system;
• Participate in “Gemba” walks and stand up meetings as required;
• Ensure all Environment, Health and Safety instructions are implemented;
• Ensure safety performance is adequately communicated;
• Participate in risk reduction plans;
• Compliance with the requirements of the ISO14001 environment management system and the ISO45001 occupational health and safety management system.
• Responsible for reporting any hazards / near misses / incidents that you’re aware of immediately to the area management.
• To adhere to the area protocols and make sure that discipline is maintained with regards to:
  • dress code
  • entrance / exit procedures
  • other internal policies which apply for the area in question.

Skills/Education:

• Graduate in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering;
• Proactive, practical and hands on approach;
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Maltese;
• Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
• Be able to work in a team and maintain relationships both internal and external;
• Be able to work on own initiative.
