Trelleborg Medical Solutions in Northborough, MA is looking to fill the position of Engineering Manager. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
Summary
The Engineering Manager will oversee the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency; ensures the manufacturing and process engineering teams and cross-functional departments work together cohesively; and is responsible for the development of equipment to aid in the manufacturing process; leads and directs the work of assigned manufacturing engineers and process engineers.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Assesses engineering risks to manufacturing, providing suggestions and solutions to both internal and external customers as needed
- Supervises the engineering department and respective team members
- Monitors plant capacity and implements solutions with leadership team buy-in
- Analyzes and designs lean manufacturing cells using effective systems and simulation tools to optimize use of space, equipment, material and personnel
- Assists in developing plant layout in planning rearrangement of facilities, equipment and operations for better utilization of space
- Works closely with new product development, quality and maintenance personnel to prevent problems with products and tooling/fixtures/automation
- Ensures all manufacturing safety regulatory policies and procedures are implemented and maintained at all times
- Stays informed concerning new manufacturing technologies and equipment in order to manufacture and reduce cost through efficiencies
- Supports all current and new product introductions
- Determines and eliminates root causes and diminishes occurrences in the manufacturing process
- Mentors and coaches new Engineers and other employees as needed
- Maintains department related documentation (training, work instructions)
- Leads implementation and ownership of new capacity or improvement related projects
- Able to assist in reducing cost through re-engineering product/material/process
Education & Experience
Required:
- 4 year degree in Engineering
- Previous supervisory experience
- 7 years of progressive experience in Manufacturing Engineering
- Understanding of ISO9001 or ISO 13485 standards
Desired:
- Experience in tool design/modifications
- Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Training
- Experience with clean room manufacturing, medical manufacturing, and/or injection molding
