Summary of the Role

The Aerospace Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for planning, directing, evaluating, and monitoring all new product introduction (NPI) activities for customer projects, ensuring a seamless transition from concept through to customer delivery.

This role supports aerospace customers within the assigned region and plays a key part in advancing projects into full-scale production. The position is critical to supporting the organization’s strategic growth in the aerospace sector.

The PE manages product launch schedules and coordinates cross-functional workstreams across Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Customers. The role ensures that all projects are executed efficiently, meet defined milestones, and are completed to the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

Working closely with Application Engineering, Sales Engineers, and the General Manager, the PE is typically assigned to complex and strategic projects involving key customers and high-impact business opportunities.

In addition, the Aerospace Project Engineer:

  • Builds and maintains strong customer relationships to support long-term business growth
  • Ensures outstanding customer service and total satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle
  • Collaborates with internal teams to ensure successful product launches and timely project completion

Roles and Responsibilities:

The primary function of the Project Engineer (PE) is to manage and coordinate customer projects and new product introduction (NPI) activities, while also supporting the regional development of the aerospace market across APAC. The PE is responsible for adhering to established processes and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Manage projects in alignment with company procedures, standards, and best practices
  • Develop, coordinate, and manage customer requests such as RFIs, RFQs, and technical queries, including preparation of quotations and proposals
  • Perform risk analysis and implement mitigation strategies using appropriate project management tools
  • Create and maintain detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project and other tools
  • Prepare and present both technical and commercial proposals
  • Coordinate and facilitate technical and commercial review meetings
  • Ensure all project deliverables are clearly defined, tracked, and completed on time
  • Capture, communicate, and ensure compliance with all quality requirements
  • Lead regular meetings with internal stakeholders and customers to review project progress and status
  • Maintain and update project tracking and reporting tools
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Purchasing) to execute project work packages
  • Provide proactive communication, issue resolution, and problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle
  • Promote and implement a culture of continuous improvement, capturing measurable gains
  • Identify, research, and implement automation opportunities within the CSC (Customer Support Center)
  • Contribute innovative ideas to improve processes, efficiency, and overall project execution
  • Support management and business reviews, including preparation of business plans and month-end reporting
  • Provide analytical insights to support decision-making and operational improvements

About the Ideal Candidate

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the aerospace industry
  • Experience in rubber, plastic, or composite manufacturing is a plus
  • Familiarity with ISO and/or AS quality standards is beneficial
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with engineering design tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Siemens NX, or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience with project management tools such as MS Project, Clarity, Daptiv, Jira, or similar platforms
  • Strong understanding of project management principles (both theoretical and practical)

Competencies:

  • Understanding of aerospace customers, market dynamics, products, and applications is an advantage
  • Ability to grasp and interpret basic technical concepts, and clearly communicate them to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong capability to communicate, coordinate, train, and lead cross-functional teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and local language; additional languages are an advantage
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work across diverse teams and functions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
