Education and Experience

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree or 10 years equivalent experience
• 5 years minimum experience working in a polymer processing or medical manufacturing

Job Responsibilities:

  • Accountable and responsible for management and successful completion of assigned
    projects
  • Identify and manage risks within projects
  • Provides technical support to estimating/sales for quoting new programs
  • Participates in on/off site technical discussions/DFM reviews with customer
  • Participates in tooling design review activities
  • Work with internal supply chain resources to identify capable outside vendors to support
    raw material and service needs
  • Develops and manages project timelines
  • Facilitates/leads regular project updates/conference calls with customer
  • Manages internal cross-functional resources ensuring completion of assigned
    deliverables
  • Manages open sales order activity/dates for assigned NPD deliverables
  • Reviews NPD outputs for profitability trend
  • Participates in cross functional development and review/approval of manufacturing and
    quality documentation
  •  Contributes to data analysis and collaboration with Quality Engineering
  • Provides engineering consulting on existing production programs as needed
  • Create, track, and report critical department KPI’s
  • Initiate, lead, and participate in continuous improvement activities as needed to support
    critical KPI goals
  • Manage projects across H&M manufacturing sites when required

About the Job

 

You will be responsible for carrying out all aspects of project management for marine technology solutions for clients around the world. About the Ideal Candidate

 

The ideal candidate is a leader with at least 5-10 years experience as a Project Manager in a similar industry/role with excellent communication, along with technical and commercial skills.

 

The successful candidate will have extensive expertise in at least one of the following areas: industry processes and standards, certification of hazardous area equipment, oil and gas industry, marine electronics or electromechanical applications, international trading, engineering design, quality management systems, materials selection.

 

Education and Experience

  • Preferred degree level in Science / Instrumentation / Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Experience of CAD packages, preferably AutoCAD and Inventor
  • PC Literate
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Proven experience in project management
  • Preferred experience of EPC level documentation management systems
  • Preferred experience in hazardous area systems / certification
  • Experience of fibre optics, ship or process systems an advantage

Summary of the Role: 

The Project Manager will support the Aerospace Airframe segment by managing customer projects and completing technical requirements from start to finish. The Project Manager (PM) role is necessary to support TSS target growth segment of aerospace, specifically within airframe customers and applications where projects have a significant degree of requirements. The job requires the ability to manage and lead project teams both directly and indirectly, and effectively communicate commercial and technical concepts with customers. In addition, the appropriate candidate must be able to self-manage project tasks and deliverables, be familiar with risk mitigation, and able to travel in support of projects.

The PM position will manage and coordinate multiple moderately complex customer projects at a time, pushing progress of all tasks to completion per the schedule.  The PM will also be expected to perform postmortem reviews of projects, documenting lessons learned and proposing improvements to the PM process and standard practices used by the project management team.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Objective

To lead the New Product Development (NPD) of new parts, assemblies and/or programs from early design concepts into production using the Minnesota Rubber and Plastics Project Management System. To development project timelines, action lists, check lists, and communications to facilitate completion of assigned projects. To manage the programs to budget and assure meeting customer requirements and specifications.

Duties

  • Leads a cross functional team in the timely and successful development of customer programs from conception to production. Includes management of project timelines, project budget and status reporting accomplished by monitoring progress on assigned molds, coordinating design reviews mold sampling, and reviewing inspection activities and documentation.
  • Provides value-added engineering support to internal and external customers as required.
  • Supports development of quality and manufacturing plans, including control plans, First Article reports, capability studies, FMEA documents and operator work instructions.
  • Participates in the estimating function for new tooling and revisions (to include part pricing, material selection, lead times, and some tooling components).
  • Works in cross-functional areas to provide support as necessary.
  • Evaluates the need and justifies the purchase of auxiliary equipment/services.
  • Complies with all policies, procedures, and work instructions relative to the Quality requirements that pertain to this position.
  • Performs other duties and assumes accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives.

Relationship to Others

Effectively communicates and demonstrates teamwork skills with all levels of the organization. Interfaces professionally and negotiates effectively with vendors, industry consultants and technical resources. May on a temporary or regular basis provide work direction to Engineers, Technicians and other personnel within their area of accountability.

Dimensions of the Position

Works independently and is authorized to make decisions necessary to carry out assigned responsibilities, within cost and project guidelines and consistent with company policies and philosophy.

Qualifications

  • College Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Manufacturing or Engineering environment. The above accountabilities will expand in individual responsibility and proficiency based on years of experience. Senior (6+ years minimum) and Chief (12+ years minimum). Classifications may have additional accountabilities, separate position descriptions and require above standard performance, additional tenure and experience.
  • Excellent communication skills required, with demonstrated success in handling complex problems and projects.
  • Experience with computer-controlled machine tools, high-volume automated production equipment, related manufacturing and engineering software programs and advanced quality planning is highly desirable.
  • Plastics or Rubber experience preferred.
  • Thermoset Elastomer Process Engineering experience is essential to this position. Candidates who have processing and manufacturing knowledge of LIM/LSR (Liquid Silicone Rubber). EPDM, FKM, and HNBR are preferred.
  • A background in injection molding, transfer molding and compression molding of thermoset elastomers is highly desired
