Education and Experience

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree or 10 years equivalent experience

Job Responsibilities:

  • Accountable and responsible for management and successful completion of assigned
    projects
  • Identify and manage risks within projects
  • Provides technical support to estimating/sales for quoting new programs
  • Participates in on/off site technical discussions/DFM reviews with customer
  • Participates in tooling design review activities
  • Work with internal supply chain resources to identify capable outside vendors to support
    raw material and service needs
  • Develops and manages project timelines
  • Facilitates/leads regular project updates/conference calls with customer
  • Manages internal cross-functional resources ensuring completion of assigned
    deliverables
  • Manages open sales order activity/dates for assigned NPD deliverables
  • Reviews NPD outputs for profitability trend
  • Participates in cross functional development and review/approval of manufacturing and
    quality documentation
  •  Contributes to data analysis and collaboration with Quality Engineering
  • Provides engineering consulting on existing production programs as needed
  • Create, track, and report critical department KPI’s
  • Initiate, lead, and participate in continuous improvement activities as needed to support
    critical KPI goals
  • Manage projects across H&M manufacturing sites when required

About the Job

The Trelleborg Perth Mining team are currently seeking an experienced technical Design/Estimator to join their team in Welshpool on a full-time basis. 

The purpose of the Design/Estimator role is to:

  • Design Mining Hose solutions to cater for various customer applications and create cost estimates.
  • Prepare cost estimates for the extended Trelleborg range of products (including but not limited to Composite Ceramics, Flexiguard, rubber Lining and customised Gaskets).
  • Identify design, application issues or improvements and communicate effectively to the stakeholders.
  • Identify supply issues during the estimation process and communicate effectively across the business to resolve.
  • Support sales, purchasing and operations functions with expert support across the respective teams.

Key responsibilities:

  • Analyse estimation requirements from internal and external requests, technical drawings, specifications, and related documents / communication.
  • Provide mining hose application solutions that enhance the products performance while being fit for purpose.
  • Produce accurate estimates by analysing material, labour requirements and available production capacity.
  • Presents well prepared estimates, accurate with descriptive information and clearly communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely completion of estimates (Within 24 hours)
  • Work closely with the sales team to understand upcoming demand and communicate effectively with the purchasing and product management on anticipated stock requirements.
  • Work with production staff to schedule and prioritise all orders according to client delivery requirements.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by interacting with the workshops on design vs practical layouts.
  • Respond to expediting requests and work with production to prioritise any urgent requirements.

Skills and Abilities:

  • 3+ years’ experience in estimation preferably in a mining or related manufacturing environment. 
  • Able to read and interpret detailed isometric & manufacturing drawings.
  • Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes is preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience.
  • Ability to Analyse Information in a detailed format (Attention to detail)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work closely as part of a team and communicate among all stakeholders to achieve company goals.
  • Pro-active, solutions-based approach to problem solving.

Education and Experience

  • Preferred degree level in Science / Instrumentation / Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Experience of CAD packages, preferably AutoCAD and Inventor
  • PC Literate
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite

Summary of the Role: 

The Project Manager will support the Aerospace Airframe segment by managing customer projects and completing technical requirements from start to finish. The Project Manager (PM) role is necessary to support TSS target growth segment of aerospace, specifically within airframe customers and applications where projects have a significant degree of requirements. The job requires the ability to manage and lead project teams both directly and indirectly, and effectively communicate commercial and technical concepts with customers.
