Summary of the Role: 

Under the direction of the Director of Operations the Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining a Continuous Improvement culture aligned with Trelleborg’s Manufacturing Excellence (ME) program. This position will manage the Innovation & Development team and partner with other staff managers to guide project teams in the use and deployment of tools, technology, policies and processes to improve overall operational effectiveness. Continuous Improvement projects will target opportunities throughout the operation that have an impact on efficiency or cost.

Tasks and Responsibilities: 

  1. Designs methods for maintaining or increasing production levels while improving production costs, yields, quality, and safety.
  2. Leads and maintains the plant’s ME program including monthly reporting.
  3. Troubleshoots process problems and identifies solutions which reduce downtime and conserve maintenance costs.
  4. Establishes work measurement programs and analyzes work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
  5. Responsible for the tracking and reviewing progress of project plan resulting form the ME roadmap assesment
  6. Analyzes work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
  7. Develops and updates process procedures to ensure that documentation is accurate and understandable.
  8. Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
  9. Interfaces with all levels of management and employees to gather information and provide guidance for implementation.
  10. Defines safe processes and equipment for employee use in production.
  11. Oversees training and development of Innovation & Development team members.
  12. Uses a variety of continuous improvement tools (i.e. Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S) to deliver strategic objectives while driving a common language and enthusiasm for performance improvement.
  13. Remains abreast of new developments in business process improvement methodology and best practices, including learning from other group sites, market leaders and industries.
  14. Promotes the sharing and implementation of operational best practices.
  15. Effectively leads the Layered Process Audit in place and make revisions in a timely manner to raise the bar.

Education and Experience: 

Required: College degree required; BS in Industrial Engineering (or similar) and Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.

Preferred: 3 to 5 years’ experience in training or shop floor supervision in a manufacturing environment.

Summary of the Role: 

The Operational Excellence Trelleborg Medical Solutions (TMS) will establish, oversee, and manage the Global Manufacturing Excellence (ME) programs for all manufacturing sites and implement Continuous Improvement initiatives to the overall business unit.  By guiding ME leaders within each manufacturing location and through continued alignment with the greater Trelleborg Group ME program, this position will ensure process consistency across the Business Area (BA) by partnering with all functions of the organization(s) to help achieve focus, alignment, and synchronization while ensuring the right systems, tools, and methods are utilized to deliver real time feedback and quantifiable metrics.

Required to conduct gap analysis of metrics and competencies required to achieve desired outcomes; develop business strategies, processes, and operations capability analysis along with improvement proposals to be deployed.  Will also collaborate with BA leadership to jointly define policy objectives, capability roadmaps, and success measures. This position will drive excellence end to end in each of the manufacturing locations conducting a continuous review of the customer value stream commencing with inquiry and ending with after sales care.

Tasks and Responsibilities: 

  • Determine the overall operational excellence strategy to align with TMS’s strategic plan.
  • Partner with local leadership teams to deploy and sustain optimal business processes and systems aligned with concepts of Lean, Lean Office, Standard Work, Real Time Metrics, Key Performance Indicators, and Continuous Improvement practices.
  • Ensure internal processes and metrics are aligned to create highest product quality, delivered on-time with the least amount of cost.
  • Build a Continuous Improvement team to provide support, education and facilitation for deployment of Manufacturing Excellence across the BA.
  • Monitor and ensure that ME programs are yielding performance improvement across all H&M manufacturing facilities resulting in OEE, yield, and delivery. Take action to adjust and make improvements as necessary.
  • Support TMS’s mission through integration/participation in the overall Manufacturing Excellence community by sharing and seeking best practices/methodologies and finding new ways to help drive maximum performance.

Education and Experience: 

  • 5+ years in manufacturing leadership, working across multiple disciplines
  • 5 + years in multi-site manufacturing environment
  • 5 + years expertise in deploying business strategic programs
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management or related field
  • Lean Manufacturing / Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt) Accreditation
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, global environment with matrix organization

Competencies: 

  • Extensive Continuous Improvement experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of Medical Device Regulations, Quality Systems Regulations, and other US and Intl regulations and standards that apply to the Class II and Class I medical device industry
  • Proven track record implementing best practices within Human Resources and team development
  • Hands on experience with ERP systems
  • Ability to translate broad strategies into specific objectives and action plans
  • Ability to lead and influence directly and indirectly at all levels of the organization

Trelleborg Medical Solutions is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Mgr to join the Delano team. Oversees the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well a cost efficiency; ensures the manufacturing and process engineering teams and cross-functional departments work together cohesively; and is responsible for the development of equipment to aid in the manufacturing process; leads and directs the work of assigned manufacturing engineers and process engineers.

Education and Experience

Required:
• 4 year degree in Engineering
• 7 years of progressive experience in Manufacturing Engineering
• Understanding of ISO9001 or 13485 standards

Desired:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and filters new business opportunities, assesses risks to manufacturing, and provides alternatives to customers with partnership with Product Line Manager and Estimators

  • Stays informed concerning new manufacturing technologies and equipment in order to manufacture and reduce cost through efficiencies
  • Supports all current and new product introductions
  • Determines and eliminates root causes and diminishes occurrences in the manufacturing process
  • Mentors and coaches new Manufacturing Engineers and other employees as needed
  • Maintains department related documentation (training, work instructions)
