About the Job

The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and successfully leading and directing the onsite teams. Additionally, the Plant Manager will partner with the business to achieve both short-term and long-term financial operating goals while aligning with Trelleborg’s Core Values.

Compensation: Base salary of $130,000-$150,000 USD plus annual variable bonus plan

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strategic manufacturing/capability/capacity plan to meet the market needs and organization’s overall business plan and objectives of sales, profit, cash, on time delivery, quality and other performance targets.
  • Establish operating budgets; monitor the cost and effectiveness of production activities to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and achieve volume, quality, and manufacturing standards.
  • Ensure facility goals are established and driven to support Corporate Goals and Objectives.
  • Motivate team to meet or exceed production and revenue forecast expectations.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Regulatory team to ensure SOPs are followed, corrective actions are implemented and repeated occurrences are resolved timely.
  • Partner with Human Resources to determine talent needs, improve employee engagement, performance management and overall alignment to the business unit’s organizational structure.
  • Works with direct reports to communicate and update goals and/or metrics, illustrating objective evidence of improvement.
  • Allocate labor and capital resources to maximize profits.
  • Set, and monitor the performance of the plant against, standards and targets in areas such as manufacturing and administration efficiency, cost control, revenue, legal compliance, and human resource management.
  • Provides monthly reports to communicate the financial, KPI and overall management performance.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend investments in technology, capital, equipment, systems, or other assets that will enhance the plant’s production.
  • Develop, implement and manage a variety of operating policies and procedures (in conjunction with corporate subject matter experts) to ensure that the plant meets its current and future production targets and quality standards.
  • Drive key metrics regarding quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure CapEx projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Perform process audits to monitor procedure and policy conformance.
  • Collaborates across functional areas to implement needed improvements (tools, equipment, procedures, forms, training materials, etc.).
  • Actively promote/build a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Establish and champion a 5s protocol for the site
  • Conducts regular communication meetings to review performance, production, project status and intiatives.
  • Provide a safe and clean working environment for all employees, achievement of all environmental and health and safety.
  • Oversee the preventative maintenance in Production and Tooling.
  • Ensure continuation of quality, manufacturing and material accreditations.
  • Implementation and maintenance of control and reporting systems for the effective management of the business.
  • Focus on ME, CE, safety KPIs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management or equivalent experience
  • 8 years of operations experience
  • 5 years’ experience leading a team
  • Previous P&L responsibilities
  • Experience with Lean Sigma methodologies
  • Experience with AS9100D and ISO9001 preferred

Summary of the Role: 

A production supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of a manufacturing department that specializes in thermoforming, using specialized equipment, paint, and finishing aerospace goods. They ensure production targets are met efficiently, products meet quality standards, and safety protocols are followed. Additionally, they often lead and motivate a team of workers, allocate resources, and communicate with higher-level management to optimize production processes.

Key Responsibilities 
  • Supervision: Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of a production team, ensuring they meet production targets and quality standards.
  •  Resource Allocation: Assign tasks and resources to workers, ensuring that equipment, materials, and personnel are used effectively.
  •  Quality Control: Monitor and enforce quality control processes to maintain product quality and compliance.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all safety protocols and regulations are followed.
  • Training and Development: Train new employees, provide guidance, and facilitate employee development.
  • Production Scheduling: Create and manage production schedules to meet demand.
  • Problem-Solving: Address production issues, equipment malfunctions, and process inefficiencies in a timely and effective manner.
  • Reporting: Maintain production records, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and generate reports.
  • Cost Control: Monitor and control production costs to stay within budget and improve efficiency.
  • Communication: Collaborate with other departments to ensure a smooth flow of materials and information.
  • Conflict Resolution: Address conflicts or challenges within the production team and work toward positive resolutions.
  • Adherence to Regulations: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership to the production team and motivate employees.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, safety measures, maintenance, and employee performance.
  •  Lean Manufacturing: Implement lean manufacturing techniques and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Job Requirements:
Education:
  • A bachelor's degree or qualifications in a related field is preferred.  
Experience:
  •  ‎A minimum of 3 years of experience in a production or manufacturing role is required
  •  A minimum of 1 year of experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a manufacturing environment is required.

The final compensation offered to the candidate may be based on geographical location, work experience and/or skill level. Additions to the compensation packing, including but not limited to paid time off, insurance benefits and 401(k) eligibility, will be outlined at the time of the job offer.
