About the Job

Responsible for leading the organization’s safety program, “Safety @ Work”, to ensure a safe, healthy and accident-free work environment. Influence attitudes and behaviors by inspiring commitment on the part of all employees to comply with safety standards through cultivating a culture of safety. Manage and establish policies and procedures designed to promote worker health and safety in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Ensure overall compliance in all areas of safety and regulatory compliance (EPA, NFPA, etc.).

Responsibilities:

  • Administers and initiates safety policies and assures that adherence is achievable, and compliance is robust, applicable, current and adequate.
  • Influences attitudes and behaviors by inspiring commitment on the part of all employees to comply with safety standards
  • Works interdepartmentally to actively instill and support a safety culture.
  • Helps prioritize risks and manages health and safety priorities to ensure appropriate focus of available resources.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments of equipment, workstations, etc. as needed
  • Facilitates and maintains records for all applicable safety training requirements.
  • Assist in ensuring accurate training and compliance to plant EHS policies and procedures involving contractor / vendor personnel.
  • Documents and maintains procedures, processes, instructions, and records that pertain to recommended and required environmental, health, and safety policies and activities.
  • Evaluates plans and specifications for current, new, or modified equipment and machinery to ensure safety regulations such as Job Hazard Analysis and Energy Control procedures are met and established in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Identifies, communicates, and facilitates the installation of engineering controls or other safeguards to processes and equipment.
  • Remains up to date on new and changing regulations and requirements to assure compliance.
  • Investigates accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine their root cause and initiates corrective and or preventative actions as applicable.
  • Assist in workers compensation claim management and return to work programs.
  • Organize and conduct fire and other safety drills, as necessary.
  • Performs routine inspections, ensuring that results are documented.
  • To be engaged with shop floor supervisors and employees through time on the production floor; expected to be at least 50% of time.
  • Assures that all managers are informed of PPE needed in their areas and are trained on distribution and maintenance of all equipment. Ongoing oversight and assurance of compliance is required.
  • Directs safety audits, assists in the preparation of reports and interacts with local emergency resources, regulatory agencies, consultants, and vendors.
  • Develops and implements safety incentive initiatives to promote continued awareness and compliance.
  • Consolidates all safety records to ensure visibility, accessibility, and availability, this includes OSHA 300 Logs, annual OSHA 300A documentation, and OSHA inspections notice of corrective actions.

Education & Experience

 Required:

  • 4-year degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental, Chemistry, Industrial, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years of safety leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 2-5 years of environmental experience, to include water/air/waste programs
  • Demonstrated experience creating and delivering effective safety training programs.
  • Demonstrated experience/ability to develop and document procedures, processes, systems, reports, and checklists to support safety program.

Desired:

  • OSHA 500 & OSHA 501
  • HazWOPER Certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge of RCRA Regulations and Hazardous Waste Management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA Standards for both General and Construction Industries
  • LEAN Manufacturing

  • First Aid / CPR / AED credentials

Summary of the role

Manager of legal affairs for all Trelleborg’s legal entities– across all BA:s - in China and Hong Kong (“the Jurisdiction”) on a wide range of issues, including contracts, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, internal policies & directives, and litigation matter.

Advising the Management of the Trelleborg legal entities in the Jurisdiction on legal and compliance issues and questions related to the business activities in the Jurisdiction, particularly with respect to customers, suppliers and external legal partners.

To provide advice to Trelleborg management in the Jurisdiction on Trelleborg Policies and Directives.

A percentage of work TBD by the SVP General Counsel will be for/directed by the Trelleborg Group Legal department upon Group projects and initiatives.

Perform a variety of legal and compliance activities in accordance with the established standards of the legal profession to protect the Trelleborg’s reputation and business interests in the Jurisdiction to reduce legal risks, and help ensure it complies with all relevant laws and regulations.

Tasks and responsibilities

Contracts:

Support the sales and purchase contracts, agency and distribution agreements, NDA (contracts) and assist the sales & business development teams on the negotiation phase of the contracts.

• Prepare or review legal contracts, letters of agreement, and other documents related to a variety of trade, commercial, financial, and operational matters (for example leases, purchase agreements, non disclosure agreements) to protect the organization’s legal and business interests.
• Identify all material legal risks in contracts.
• Lead the internal legal validation of contracts in accordance with Trelleborg templates and contracting principles.
• Support the busness team in contractual dispute and litigation matters

Export control:
Ensure export compliance by Trelleborg in the Jurisdiction on the basis of the national and international regulations.

• Oversea the internal export compliance system (procedures, instructions) and advise upon all documentation to ensure that deliveries comply wth local export licence requirements.
• Ensure all export trade compliance with international export control policy and the Jurisdictional Export Control Laws
• Contribute to the external and internal compliance audits.

Data Privacy

Advise upon data privacy compliance and implemenaton of Trelleborg’s Data Privacy programme in the Jurisdictionin accordance with PIPL and other relevant data privacy laws and regulations


Other tasks:

• Applies judgement and gives advice in/on legal matters independently for operating teams across the Jurisdiction.
• Provide legal advice to managers to support that their activities, policies, business practices, and transactions comply with all relevant laws, regulations and Trelleborg Group Policies and Directives.
• To maintain an awareness of business activities and to highlight and advise on significant legal risks where these are foreseen.
• To keep up to date with changes in laws and regulations in the Jurisdiction which affect the organization’s activities and inform management as relevant.
• Assist management with contract negotiations with external parties defend the interests of the company.
• Advise management in coordination with Group Legal on claim defense from a legal/contractual standpoint and assist with reaching appropriate agreements/settlements.
• In consultation with business management and in coordination with Group Legal, as and when required, to protect and advise the organization’s interests in legal proceedings before courts, government agencies, or other authorities.
• Prepare materials for external legal counsel in coordination with Group Legal so that they are well-prepared to represent the organization in legal proceedings.
• Manage the legal parts of the 100in100 integration process for acquired entities within the Jurisdiction
• Establish contract management database(s) for Trelleborg legal entities, as relevant, in the Jurisdiction.
• Conduct legal reviews at the direction of Group Legal of Trelleborg legal entities in the Jurisdiction as required.
• Conduct trainings on different compliance matters across the Jurisdiction in coordination with Group Legal.

Education and Experience

J.D. from accredited China or International law school, membership in relevant Bar association, good standing in such bar association with no past or pending disciplinary proceedings.

At least 5 - 7 years of relevant work experience, including in-house experience is a plus. Knowledge in Medical device field is meriting.

Excellent English and Chinese spoken, read & written

Computer literate (Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Teams)
