Summary of the Role:

 A Buyer is tasked with efficiently managing the procurement of all consumables and business goods, including raw materials across TSS Seattle, aiming to achieve optimal cost and quality outcomes. The Buyer is also responsible for upholding compliance with all regulations and principles of the integrated management system while actively participating in the establishment and upkeep of these systems.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Participation in Supply Review
  • Efficiently manage the purchase order process, from creation to fulfillment, ensuring timely delivery of raw materials to meet production needs.
  • Ensure the purchased raw materials meet quality standards and collaborate with suppliers to address any quality issues promptly.
  • Coordinate with Operations team and office staff to meet the appropriate min/max levels for consumables.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, terms, and conditions.
  • Monitor and optimize inventory levels, ensuring that stock levels align with production schedules and customer demand while minimizing excess or obsolete inventory.
  • Adhere to all relevant regulations and standards governing the procurement of raw materials, ensuring compliance with legal and industry requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, monitoring performance, and addressing any issues or discrepancies.
  • Identify and assess risks with the supply chain, developing and implementing strategies to mitigate disruptions such as supply shortages or transportation delays.

  • Review and manage change requests from Sales (Order Enquiry, Quick Seal, Priority and Emergency Request Workflows) and Production (Short term supply issues – materials, machine, absenteeism, etc.).
  • Set-up and maintain system parameters to run the system as automatic as possible and to achieve good results.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless communication and alignment with overall business goals, escalations, etc.
  • Support transfer projects.
  • Ensure smooth phase-in of New Product Introduction (NPI) and product transfers in collaboration between Sales and Manufacturing.
  • Handle drawing changes on series items.
  • Series replacement tool orders with sampling.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to continuous improvement efforts, suggesting and implementing enhancements to planning processes and workflows.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelors degree in business administration, supply chain, information systems or related discipline required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 2-4 years’ experience in a purchasing function in a distribution or logistics environment
  • Willing to travel up to 5%
  • Experience working with ERP systems, JD Edwards & SAP preferred
  • Experience working with PC and MS Office, especially Excel

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions is looking for a Strategic Buyer to join our team at our Weobley site. This role is central to ensuring the efficient, timely supply of materials that support our business operations. As part of a small and dynamic procurement team, you will help drive cost reduction initiatives and support growth across the site.

This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional looking to influence supplier strategy, lead negotiations, and contribute to long‑term business improvement.

Work Pattern:

40 hours per week
8.00am – 5.00pm Monday – Thursday
6.00am – 12.30pm OR 8.00am – 2.30pm Friday

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong negotiation and contract‑management capabilities, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. They will be an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, able to convey technical and business information clearly and confidently. Highly self‑motivated and capable of working independently when required, they should also be well‑organised, adept at managing time, and able to meet deadlines consistently. Strong leadership qualities and the ability to influence stakeholders are essential, alongside advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills. Solid IT competence is also required, including good proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to work comfortably with ERP systems.


Responsibilities :

  • Raising of orders for key suppliers and ensuring the daily running of the procurement department. 
  • Management of a small team. 
  • Ensure all product is available for production as required. 
  • Leading supplier sourcing, assessment and negotiation to secure competitive commercial agreements. 
  • Ensuring adherence to procurement policies, procedures and industry standards 
  • Support the sites compliance to Trelleborg Code of Conduct. 
  • Responsibly for the daily delivery of KPI’s of Cost Quality and Delivery 
  • Supplier management and development in conjunction with Global Procurement and Purchasing Manager 
  • Helping to deliver the procurement roadmap strategy for 1, 3 and 5 years in conjunction with Purchasing Manager 
  • Analysis of data and trends to identify opportunities and drive decisions 
  • Engage and communicate with internal stakeholders.

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in procurement within a Manufacturing environment 
  • CIP’s qualified level 5.
  • Experience with ‘lifed’ products
  • MRP experience ideally with SAP
