Trelleborg Healthcare and Medical is seeking an NPD Project Manager to join their team. Provide primary project leadership and voice of customer representation to new product development activities in schedule, budget, and technical facets.

Education and Experience

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree or 10 years equivalent experience
• 5 years minimum experience working in a polymer processing or medical manufacturing
environment in a technical or leadership role

Desired:
• 5 years minimum experience working in a polymer processing or medical manufacturing
environment in a technical or leadership role and performing the essential job functions
listed above
• Post-secondary education, apprenticeship, or certificate training in polymer related or
project management discipline

Sr NPD Project Mgr requirements 

  • 8 years minimum experience working in a polymer processing or manufacturing environment in a technical or leadership role.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Accountable and responsible for management and successful completion of assigned
    projects
  • Identify and manage risks within projects
  • Provides technical support to estimating/sales for quoting new programs
  • Participates in on/off site technical discussions/DFM reviews with customer
  • Participates in tooling design review activities
  • Work with internal supply chain resources to identify capable outside vendors to support
    raw material and service needs
  • Develops and manages project timelines
  • Facilitates/leads regular project updates/conference calls with customer
  • Manages internal cross-functional resources ensuring completion of assigned
    deliverables
  • Manages open sales order activity/dates for assigned NPD deliverables
  • Reviews NPD outputs for profitability trend
  • Participates in cross functional development and review/approval of manufacturing and
    quality documentation
  •  Contributes to data analysis and collaboration with Quality Engineering
  • Provides engineering consulting on existing production programs as needed
  • Create, track, and report critical department KPI’s
  • Initiate, lead, and participate in continuous improvement activities as needed to support
    critical KPI goals
  • Manage projects across H&M manufacturing sites when required

Travel: Up to 10% but mostly local site travel

About the Job

We are looking for the successful applicant to support innovation and new product development with the Research & Development strategic plan. You will use computational modelling (within existing software in operation at Trelleborg, such as COMSOL and Ansys, along with others as vital), and the optimization of these models with experimental data captured in parallel to drive development and testing of new material technologies.

Practical testing of product applications, ultimately constructing robust digital twins will enable prediction of innovative technologies in multifaceted environments. Projects will involve vibration, acoustic and electromagnetic energy absorption and manipulation.

This job will be primarily supporting an exciting new government funded multidisciplinary project. Your role will be central to the delivery of this program, and a number of other revolutionary projects. Working in a close-knit team of scientists and engineers operating at the groundbreaking of technology, in a brand-new purpose built innovation facility.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Applying computational modelling (electromagnetic, radar cross section, noise and vibration in particular) to assigned projects
  • Developing and establishing new testing processes to support computational model
  • Integration of test data into computational model, analysis of validity of model and optimization thereof
  • Technical communication with customers/suppliers in support of business development or sales activity
  • Developing new computational models
  • Supporting NPD and continuous improvement of existing products and processes
  • Utilising specialist knowledge to deliver strategic projects (e.g., electromagnetic attenuation, vibration and acoustic absorption)
  • Designing, organising, and driving material qualification programs in customer specific applications
  • Collecting, recording, collating, maintaining, and analysing of material properties, derived from experimental data
  • Project Management where appropriate

Regular UK travel and sporadic International travel to support testing and customer visits. Please note due to the nature of the work and the high-level security requirements, we can only consider applications from UK British citizens who do not hold dual nationality.

The Ideal Candidate

The position calls for a candidate that holds a Degree or equivalent qualification. Computational modelling experience in COMSOL, Ansys or similar. Involvement in polymer and elastomer technology. Experience modelling electromagnetic environment and mechanical vibration and/or acoustics would be desirable. As would Doctorate, Materials development and involvement in nanomaterials.

Communication is a key for this role, interacting with internal and external partners. Therefore we want someone who has positive relationship building skills with an ability to connect with staff at all levels. Being self motivated and results driven, with data analysis skills to draw confident conclusions from varied data.

About the Job
As a Junior Engineer you have responsibility to finish the design, modelling & drafting work allocated to you by your seniors in an efficient and timely manner. This job will entail completion of 3D models and engineering drawings, maintaining work documentation and keeping all projects organized. The Product Engineer-1 (PE1) is a supporting role for creating custom product designs to meet customer expectations. In order to understand and support the design recommendations, the PE1 will collaborate with the TSS sales team and the customer applying listening, problem solving and sales skills. In support of sales team, the PE1 may be responsible for collaborating with the Product Test Lab, the Material Test Lab, and or FEA specialist. In order to design a product that optimizes TSS commercial goals, the PE1 will collaborate with SCM and manufacturing to make sure that the design specifications are manufacturable in the most efficient process possible. While a PE1, the primary responsibility will be to gain experience and knowledge through exposure and training opportunities.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and support Rubber, Plastic and Metal component designs for internal and external manufacturing resources as a result of a Customer Request.
  • Be participant in the creation of
    • a detailed manufacturing drawing complete with dimensions and tolerances
    • support design concepts by performing Finite Element Analysis
    • ensure that the product functions in the application as specified
    • ensure that the product can be manufactured in a cost effective and reliable manner.
  • Participate in key customer visits with sales engineers and account managers.
  • Collaborate with suppliers/purchasing for materials, components and manufactured product.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on tool design and tool manufacture sources, capability and cost

Education and Experience

  • BSMET/BSME degree or equivalent essential.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD Package essential.
  • Proficiency with oral/written communication skills crucial in the English language

  • Experience in the science of hydraulics and Fluid Dynamics highly desirable
