The Material Laboratory Intern role is responsible for standard laboratory testing and data compilation related to polymer testing in the Material Laboratory using a variety of state of the art laboratory equipment. Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Test polymer material samples for the purpose of characterizing polymer’s physical and thermal properties specifically for chemical compatibility and/or Finite Elemental Analysis modeling.
  • Perform test requirements as defined in ASTM, customer, and other industry standard specifications.
  • Perform data analysis.
  • Follow procedures and perform duties in compliance with lab accreditation requirements (ISO17025).
  • Remain free from any undue internal influence and external commercial, financial, or other pressures and influences that may adversely affect the quality of their work.
  • General upkeep of the laboratory
  • Compliance with quality, safety, environmental, and customer mandated procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

The Product Engineer-1 (PE1) is a supporting role for creating custom product designs to meet customer expectations. In order to understand and support the design recommendations, the PE1 will collaborate with the TSS sales team and the customer applying listening, problem solving and sales skills. In support of sales team, the PE1 may be responsible for collaborating with the Product Test Lab, the Material Test Lab, and or FEA specialist. In order to design a product that optimizes TSS commercial goals, the PE1 will collaborate with SCM and manufacturing to make sure that the design specifications are manufacturable in the most efficient process possible. While a PE1, the primary responsibility will be to gain experience and knowledge through exposure and training opportunities.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and support Rubber, Plastic and Metal component designs for internal and external manufacturing resources as a result of a Customer Request.
  • Be participant in the creation of
    • a detailed manufacturing drawing complete with dimensions and tolerances
    • support design concepts by performing Finite Element Analysis
    • ensure that the product functions in the application as specified
    • ensure that the product can be manufactured in a cost effective and reliable manner.
  • Participate in key customer visits with sales engineers and account managers.
  • Collaborate with suppliers/purchasing for materials, components and manufactured product.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on tool design and tool manufacture sources, capability and cost
  • Responsible for identifying training opportunities from internal and external sources for self development

  • BSMET/BSME degree or equivalent essential.

About the Job

As a Jr. Design Engineer you have responsibility to complete all modelling & drafting work allocated to you by your seniors in an efficient and timely manner. This job will entail completion of 3D models and engineering drawings, maintaining your work documentation and keeping all your projects organized. You will work with Sr. Engineer / manager based at ICE to ensure that your work fully complies with the project requirements and is in line with the guidelines.
